Earrings for Sale :)

I started making jewelry :) I have all this free time now. And I wanted something other than video games to fill it with. I'll likely end up selling most of these.

I also practice drawing, but I really enjoy this past-time.

So far I've made all of these, and another pair with a matching necklace. (They're more "industrial". They're pieces of glass with metal frames around them, linked to pearls.)

The crystals in the third, fifth, and sixth picture are Swarovski crystals. The hooks are platinum plated (for sensitive ears,) and the pearl studs are for those

without any metal allergies.

The last two (fans, and the long drop earrings,) aren't completed. But I'll complete them once I can find what I feel is missing from them. :)

I made lasagna!

I made a good-sized lasagna. Baked it for roughly 2 hours this morning. And it was worth the work.

It's Artichoke hearts, mushroom, and spinache lasagna.
It has ricotta, mozarella, and feta, with the option of sprinkling on a parmesan/romano mixture. and crushed red peppers for spice. Sweet Italian Sausage and Spicy Italian sausage. I also put in fresh Rosemary and Basil. Along with a pre-made tomato - basil sauce, and stewed tomatoes.

It's for about 20 people or so (Boyfriend had a potluck at work.) the pan is pretty big, contrary to how small it looks here. :)

The pictures below are of the really pretty cupcakes we had at work a few weeks ago. I decided to add them as this is a post about food, and I figured "why not?"

It hurt to eat them, they were that pretty! haha.

I enjoy cooking, it gives me something to do that I can share with others. :) Although, I have a wide variety of tastes (having grown up with a mother who liked to try new things. She once put peanut butter on chicken, an attempt at peanut satay, but didn't realize peanut satay has coconut milk and other ingredients. Needless to say, the results were hillarious.)

Josh the Lumberjack with Crawfish made by another co-worker. They made a HUGE pot of these. They were my first crawfish ever, and they were delicious! :D

Spam Musubi, revised. I made it bite sized, for a pot luck a few months back :)

I have three types of mold: a block, which is the general type/shape you'd find musubi in if you ever visited Hawai'i, the small rolls you see here, and a bamboo mat to wrap sushi with.

This was the first time I made sushi with Gene. :D He did okay, and we had tons of fun. We ate it for dinner at work, and it was delicious. Much more inexpensive than buying the rolls from HEB (local grocery store.)

I've made myself a new signature!

Lately, I've been kinda bummed out due to having to pull out of school (lack of funding due to FASFA changes.) this means along with no degree, I cannot wear my "I r kollege stoodent" shirt with pride.

I plan to keep working on my skills. And hopefully, I can find a way to finish my degree.

The painting on my signature is kind of old. But I still like it.

It was an attempt at "Garona" of World of Warcraft, back when she was still orc/human. They've changed her lineage since, orc/draenei. And given her pig-tails.

I don't think pig-tails fit her bad ass persona. She's an assassin. With pig-tails.

I've signed up for a year on this site. I'm excited. I've already started practicing! :D Control of pressure (how dark I'm making my lines,) and lots of peanuts. I think I've drawn over 150+ in two days.

So, I've been working on my art. The above, a self portrait with an imagined 'pet'. The below, character concepts - what I perceive to be an antagonist of sorts, and her pet. Though, never properly finished. Sometimes, I think the 'week' goes by too quickly. And I don't have enough time. With each of my courses being 5 weeks long, it seems so very compacted and like in no time at all, everything has gone by.

Thanksgiving just passed. It's at the end of the year when I wish I could gather up all my old friends say hello. We're all 'adults' now and too busy to see each other, even if we are in the same state, it's unfortunate.

But, in other words. I carry on. I'm still kicking myself to carry out my work and attempt to better my skills that would further my career in the Gaming industry. Taking every chance I can to pick up a pencil and sketch something. Anything.

I'm tired haha ^-^ Finals for animation this week, and I have so much to redo and retouch on my 'tripping tim' animation.

So I've been having fun with speed paintings in my spare time. Working on speeding up. :D

The top is "Two Bags" an Aesop's Fable, the second is a photo manipulation entitled "The thing on the hall" (I thought it said in ^^;;). Then we have the "Little Black Dress." And last "The 4th Kind" upcoming movie poster. You should google it, at least for a giggle or two. :P

So I started my 2d animation class. And I am surprised! I'm enjoying it far more than I thought I would. This is my first attempt at animation. I made everything, and I used Photoshop and flash to animate it. :D My mom said "Is that it?" but I persevere. I'm rather fond of it. And here's a future story line I hope to work on with my friend Zekie Cho!

Started a 2danimation class today ^-^ I'm excited. I have a good friend, Zekie Cho - who I plan to bounce ideas off (ironically, I'll be animating a ball!)

So, I tend to wander websites when I'm looking for inspiration, or for materials (textures) and references. I found an amazing artist, who is extremely good at replication of a style of art. (And even the feeling that piece, or style represents.)

So far, my favorite is Kahlo's. Because I really feel an emotional connection to some of her works.

Scribblenauts and the time machine!

A posting of a review from someone at E3 regarding "Scribblenauts" (Gaming development convention):

I had played all the big titles at E3. Private showings of God of War III, Heavy Rain, Alan Wake. But at 4:00 on Thursday, I was wandering around the show floor, wondering what else I had to see. I saw a small little booth for "Scribblenauts!" in the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment section. I mean, who goes to that booth? But I remember hearing about it on GAF, and so I decided to check it out.

Best game of E3? Without a **** doubt. Anyone who says otherwise did not play Scribblenauts. Best game of all time? Jesus Christ, I don't know, maybe. It's a game that challenges your IMAGINATION. No other game has ever done that.

So listen to this story. I was in the early levels; I didn't quite have an idea of how ridiculously in-depth the database was. I was summoning things like ladders, glasses of water, rayguns, what have you. But I reached a level with zombie robots, and the zombie robots kept killing me. Rayguns didn't work, a torch didn't work, a pickaxe didn't work. In my frustration, I wrote in "Time Machine". And one popped up. What the **** A smile dawned on my face. I hopped in, and the option was given to me to either travel to the past or the future. I chose past. When I hopped out, there were **** dinosaurs walking around. I clicked one, and realized I could RIDE THEM. So I hopped on a **** DINOSAUR, traveled back to the present, and stomped the **** out of robot zombies. Did you just read that sentence? Did you really? I **** TRAVELED THROUGH TIME AND JUMPED ON A DINOSAUR AND USED IT TO KILL MOTHER**** ROBOT ZOMBIES. This game is unbelievable. Impossible. There's nothing you can't do.

I played inFamous lately. Amazing sandbox sort of game. The world is your playground (Within bounds - if you go to far you get swarmed by the 'bad guys'. And by the term swarmed, I mean fifteen of them could appear with tanks and painful guns. :P)

I've also been playing "The World Ends with You" Not bad. The concept of pins remind me of FF7. Old idea, new concepts. It's also one of those games that make you think, if this were the Matrix: this would be possible.

Finals in the upcoming week! I've been working on drafting up my roughs for the final in my Dynamic Drawing class. :X They're rough.

These are some of the base colorings for the 'fashion' pieces I'm doing. As you can see with the spanish orange/aquamarine one: I use markers as a base and use color pencils (both prismacolor - stanford) to give texture and depth.

I went to a little 'thing' with my mom last night. I wore these shoes. And for any woman who wears a pair of shoes, there's always two issues. 1) Do they go with my outfit? These were black slip on wedges. Simple, go with everything. 2) Are they comfortable? I'm sure these could have been comfy for someone else. They ate part of my toe completely raw. And the evident sore spot is so painful that when I was moving in bed this morning, I flipped over and hit it on the edge of my bed: I jolted up and screamed.
Seems a bit extreme, but I think the pinkish flesh beneathe is muscle and my body hates me. lol

I visited a friend up in Austin, but have returned to my own little town.

I'm now in a 'Dynamic Figure Drawing' class. And so far, we've study the old masters and done copies of their pieces. Mine are kinda..meh.

This is my Rembrandt and Da Vinci. My Rembrandt is sorta quick and sketchy. My Da Vinci's are close but no bacon.

I also did the 'Venus Di Milo' - drawing from a sculpture.

I'm rather fond of this piece of work, simply because it is one of the classics. It's well known. It's also simple and elegant. (Simple, until you attempt to draw folds of material, in which case you wish that you had picked another piece. :P) And of course. I managed to tilt everything. But I'm still fond of it. At some point, I'll get better. And I'll keep redoing my pieces until they are a closer representation of the originals. After all: copying is what you do until you're good enough to do your own. :P

I'm not excited about my next class. It requires a live model. And of course, to have a life drawing class you'd need a live model. But I'm somewhat of a recluse, and I keep to myself. And with only schooling, and no job in these hard times - finding a model for free would be extremely difficult. I could use my mom - but she hates to be drawn. She doesn't like being watched either. So meh.

My last drawing class, I did the above photos. Not perfect, I'm certainly still working on it.

So! I have been trying to discipline myself. And It's not so bad.
Everyday, I'm going to work on my drawing/painting skills ^-^

Today: I worked mostly on faces/eyes. More realistic than my 'manga' style I usually do. They always end up crooked. haha ^-^

I also did some sketches. Just quick ones trying to get 'faster.'

I watch a lot of youtube videos as well, here are some I suggest for the upcoming artist:

idrawgirls <-- Great videos if you're a visual learner. Not step by step, but still interesting/useful.
loisvb <--Animations, however, she's a great artist: loish <---her artwork. She's on myspace, deviantart, and cgsociety now too. The use of teal/aqua colors is gorgeous. And she blends them so well. She has a lot of vibrant colors that I can't manage to work in properly. :P
Claudia Sutton <--- A blog. ^-^ She's a great artist and her painting technique is interesting. FIDUSCIOSE <--- I love the stylization. And the use of muted colors, gorgeous. ^-^

I finally finished my digital manipulation homework. Yay me. ^-^
So I'm going to post here, as I stated: repetition. Working on keeping routines.

I made this painting when I was working at TGIF's for a bit. I really enjoyed that job. I have another one, where I did a silouhette of Bob Marley.

The line art is something I happen to have seen floating on the internet for the past few years. (I think it's meant for tattoos, but I can't get any of those. :P) So I did something with it ^-^ I'm rather fond of Koi fish, geisha, and other Japanese themed pieces of culture and art. I have a rather large collection of manga, and watch anime from time to time too. :D

I think I'm finally getting rid of this plague-like cold that I caught from my mom. It's one of the most unpleasant things I've experienced this year. Hopefully, no one else caught it from me. (I'm somewhat of a recluse, except for close family and friends. So! It's a possibility. ^-^)

Here's my manipulation homework if you're curious. I'm not that fond of it. The hands specifically. I didn't have a lot of spare time to rework them repeatedly (like I would an actual painting.) I also tried a new technique of painting! based on a tutorial I found. >> Quick Creative Color <<

My first "blog"

I will be honest. I hate talking.
Much more, it's hard for me to be extremely open. So, this is an exercise in my talking skills. Typing?

I mainly practice art.

For instance, this is a current work in progress. I use photo references, but I change the colors/tones of the skins most of the time. (Photos, when not done professionally can be washed out - or maybe even too saturated at times.)

I really adore the model for these photos. Once I find her stock portfolio on deviant art, I'll post that up for everyone. She deserves the credit.

So far I've been calling this 'Aqua.' But I don't feel the name suits it just yet.I love profile pieces. But, I often find making the skin tones warmer a challenge and face give off a more 3-d shape difficult.

I've recently caught the 'cold,' a sort of epidemic it seems. Everyone I know has, or has just gotten over this menacing sinus infection. I'm starting to wonder if I should spray everyone down with lysol as they enter my apartment.

I'll work to make this blog a more routine thing. I'm currently attending college for a Game art and Design degree, in the hopes of becoming a concept/texture artist. So, I can use this to post my daily exercises! Feel free to comment, or ask questions..critiques are welcome if you're a student of the arts as well.
